Established in 1988, Hillwood, a Perot Company, has consistently been recognized for its notable contributions to commercial, residential, and industrial real estate. Its debut project, Alliance Texas, is world-renowned and recognized as one of the best mixed-use projects of its kind. This particular project is a 27,000-acre master-planned community containing the first industrial airport, which has culminated in a $92 billion economic impact supporting 63,000 jobs and producing 53 million square feet in development.
Hillwood is committed to generating long-term income for customers and partners through investments, developments, and public-private partnerships. Hillwood communities span 90 locations across the United States and Costa Rica, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and creativity.
In a March 2021 release, Hillwood received two awards from the prestigious National Association of Home Builders, which supports people and organizations that build communities and create jobs. The Gold and Silver Awards were given in 2020, with Hillwood's Dee Davidson bringing home the Silver Award and Lori Evans winning a Silver and Gold Award.
A lifestyle manager at Union Park by Hillwood, Davidson won for a program she created for the Dallas-Fortworth community. Meanwhile, Evans, a lifestyle manager at Pomona by Hillwood, was awarded the Silver for her work as a lifestyle director. Her program won a Gold Award for best in the category.
According to firm representatives, lifestyle programs are integral parts of Hillwood communities. Through these programs, residents develop a sense of belonging to the community. More than hosting events and activities, lifestyle programs allow residents to make real connections within the community and build lasting friendships.
In July 2021, the McSAM Award organization recognized Hillwoods Communities Pecan Square Development. The master-planned community won a People’s Choice Community of the Year, Master-Planned Community of the Year, Best Community Amenity, Best Welcome Center, and Lifestyle Program of the Year. In addition, for the third year in a row, Hillwood Communities was also given a Lifestyle Director of the Year Award.
Pecan Square Development was awarded the Master-Planned Community of the Year Award because it offers residents a year-round lifestyle program, unique amenities, rich technology offerings, planned on-site schools, and product diversity, all of which are the glue that binds residents to a community.
Also chosen for a People’s Choice Award, the development won based on a consumer survey given to the community’s most recent buyers. Homebuyers gave feedback related to home design, sales experience, customer service, and community lifestyle, among other factors. Responders also rated the community based on a scale of one to 10 on how likely they would make a referral to a friend.
Hillwood Communities President, Fred Balda, stated building neighborhoods with a sense of community was very important. By incorporating state-of-the-art amenities and a lifestyle calendar full of events coupled with outdoor spaces and natural features, developers are engineering opportunities for interaction among residents and creating the foundation for families and friends to enjoy life.
The Sales and Marketing Council of Dallas Builders Association created the McSAM Awards in 1979. The award is bestowed upon builders, developers, and associates making significant contributions to residential marketing in the given year.
